Karstic Aquifers—Simple or Hybrid Systems? Thermal Stories from Maaras Cave, Greece

چکیده
Karst systems, such as caves, provide a unique opportunity to study the groundwater from inside in contrast spring studies, where hydrographs, chemographs, and thermographs show an integrated signal entire catchment aquifer. Studies karst springs that recharge conduit characteristics significantly influence how temperature is transmitted thus could inform on structure of underground flow paths. Here, we present monitoring data two-year-long 10 km long river cave, Maaras, northern Greece. Our five measuring stations along cave stream different paths transform signal. The area consists polje impacting conditions change seasonally diffuse concentrated. Diffuse stabilizes regardless conditions. However, fluctuations occur four time scales: seasonal, event-based, diurnal, hourly, indicating passage Interaction between in-cave porous aquifer clastic sediments strongly impacts alteration thermal through cave: are damped, raised.

Two new Truncatelloidea species from Melissotrypa Cave in Greece (Caenogastropoda).
In the small lake located in the cave Melissotrypa in Thessalia, Greece, truncatelloidean gastropods representing two species were found, new to science. One of them, represented by two specimens only, has been described based on the shell characters only; with its cytochrome oxidase sequence it has been assigned to the genus Iglica, and to the family Moitessieriidae, Iglica hellenica sp. n. Fo...
متن کاملDiversity of microbial communities colonizing the walls of a Karstic cave in Slovenia.
Karstic cave systems in Slovenia receive substantial amounts of organic input from adjacent forest and freshwater systems. These caves host microbial communities that consist of distinct small colonies differing in colour and shape. Visible to the naked eye, the colonies cover cave walls and are strewn with light-reflecting water droplets. In this study, the diversity of prokaryotes constitutin...
متن کاملIntegrated geophysical surveys to assess the structural conditions of a karstic cave of archaeological importance
An integrated geophysical survey using both the electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) and groundpenetrating radar (GPR) methods was undertaken over a cave of great archaeological interest in southern Italy. The survey was performed to assess the stability of the carbonate rock roof of the cave. A geophysical survey was preferred to boreholes and geotechnical tests, in order to avoid the risk ...

The economic and social progress Greece achieved in the early post war decades decelerated after 1974 because all institutions sustaining the efficient operation of democracy and free markets were deliberately and gravely eroded. Under the impetus of hard core socialists provisions introduced in the 1975 constitution, economic policies extended further in the direction of unfettered statism, th...
متن کاملStudy on the Antibacterial Effect from Moonmilk Pindul Cave, Indonesia
Background and Objective: Antibiotic resistance is the ability of microbes to survive antibiotic exposure with standard doses. Regular updating of antibiotics is one solution to overcome antibiotic resistance. One source with potential new antibiotics is moonmilk from caves because it contains various bacteria proven to have antibacterial activity. The objective of the present study is to explo...
